Introduction
Though the thirteen colonies were all united, the location of the colonies had a bearing on what cultures they had, what politics and religions they partook in, and how they made money. There are several similarities and differences between the colonies.
Through this WebQuest, you will be able to find out how the region each colony was in affected its culture, politics, and economy.
The essential question for this WebQuest is, "How can we compare and contrast colonial life (including education, economy, and religion) in the New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern colonies?"
Task
Your task is to navigate through this WebQuest and learn about British Colonial America. You will be given a variety of sources and online games and you will fill out a chart comparing and contrasting different facets of British Colonial America.
Process
First, watch this video outlining what life was like in the New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern Colonies. **Insert YouTube link to video**
Next, you will play Jamestown Adventure, where you get to create your own colony and compare it to the actual Jamestown colony! Follow this link. http://www.historyglobe.com/jamestown/
After you play Jamestown Adventure, click this link to do a ten question online scavenger hunt of the thirteen colonies. http://mrnussbaum.com/13intscav/

Finally, you will explore the different regions by using this link: http://mrnussbaum.com/13regions/. You will click on each region of the colonies and it will tell you about the climate/geography, religion, and economy of each region. When you do this, you will save this Google Doc https://docs.google.com/document/d/13EaTB79VFFzvdExVUYsM9fMdtF2bIvvAxE-TamhDY_g/edit?usp=sharing as a Word document, and fill out the chart, comparing and contrasting regions in British Colonial America, and answer the questions at the bottom.

Conclusion
It's important to note that while all of the colonies were essentially "together", there were significant differences in each region. Not only was the climate and geography different, but also what they practiced as far as religion and beliefs, how they got food, and how they made money. The locations of the colonies played a big role in what they did for money--the Mid-Atlantic and Southern colonies were able to farm while the soil in the Northern colonies was just too rocky, so they relied on fishing and trading at the ports.
