Poached Eggs

Introduction

When you imagine perfectly cooked eggs with running yolks what style comes to mind

Students will be able to cook pooched eggs .

Process

  1. In your kitchen gather the following: slotted ladle, eggs, pot, water, vinegar
  2. bring water to a boil then lower the heat to low simmer, bowl, paper towel
  3. add 2tbsp of vinegar
  4. put content of one egg in the bowl without shells
  5. pour the egg into pot of water
  6. cook for one minute
  7. fish out the egg 
  8. place egg over paper towel
  9. trim any stringy stuff off
  10. serve and enjoy

Evaluation

Eggs will be assessed based on presentation and texture. The ideal eggs will be runny and not stringy. 

Conclusion

If the steps are followed correctly you should get perfectly cooked pooched eggs. Cooking the eggs a little longer will give you a hardboiled egg texture. Cooking less time will produce a more runny egg center.
