Introduction
A Spanish Teacher is looking for bright, young students who can lead a non-sports minded adult to the ¨perfect ¨sporting event. Sounds like something you could do? Continue on to "Tasks" to find out how you can participate.

Task
To get your teacher to attend a sporting event, you and three other classmates must put together a demo infomercial which you believe will be intriguing and entertaining for non-sports minded people. The demo must focus on getting your teacher or middle aged adults to attend a sporting event. Remember that you will be competing against several other student groups, so your presentation must contain uniqueness and flair. Also, in addition to the video, you and your group must submit a portfolio containing hard copies of all your material, including a letter of intent explaining why your sport would be the best choice for your teacher.
Process
General Guidelines:
For this your project your group will create the three following things:
1. A video, in Spanish, demonstrating your demo infomercial.
2. A letter of intent (one for the entire group) to be added to the portfolio.
3. A portfolio including all works done and citations used by the group.
Video
Must be spoken in Spanish and include the topic of only one sport, --- as well as any components entailed within that topic´s description. In addition, the video must include at least one ¨Bonus Features¨ as suggested for authenticity. Remember, the aim of the video is to be creative in the creation, while maintaining an authentic infomercial feel that will appeal to non-sports fans.
Letter of Intent
Write a letter to your teacher explaining why your group's sport deserves to be chosen. The letter should be 3-5 paragraphs, typed in Times New Roman 12 pt. font, double spaced, and be placed within the portfolio. Within the letter you should introduce your group while discussing your group´s inspiration for the infomercial, how/why your group is creative and different, and why you feel it is important to have middle aged adults interested in sports. Remember this is more a letter than an essay so it should include a greeting (Querido) as well as an ending with signatures by each member of the group
Portfolio
Your portfolio is the most important aspect of this project as it will include the foundations and research of your group´s project. Within the portfolio, there should be the individual summaries written by each member of the group for his or her topic, as well as the final group script used for the video. If there were any rough drafts, outlines, or peer editing done prior to the final typed copies, they should also be included within the portfolio. In addition, each member´s summary/summaries should have a list of any citations used along with a hard copy of any article. The group should also form a vocabulary list which records every new Spanish word used. (The Spanish word and its English equivalent should be present on the list.) Make sure to also place your Letter of Intent within the portfolio as the first page. Your group should also personalize the portfolio by placing a picture of the group, the name of the group, the name of the sport, a picture of the sport and any other related material, on the cover.
Step-by-Step Process:
Step 1: Choose your sport.
Step 2: Each person in the group must pick a category. It should be noted that at least two members will also work as the presenters, and are expected to work together.
Step 3: Watch Youtube.com Infomercials!
Step 4: Research your topic. Discuss the information found with your group and decide which information you will use.
Step 5: As a group, brainstorm the framework for your video. What is each person discussing? In which order will you discuss the topics? How will you transition from one topic to another?
Step 6: Write your summary/script about your topic. You may choose to write a rough draft and/or outline which can be edited by your peers.
Step 7: As a group, finalize the script of your video including the introduction and closing by the presenters. Don't hesitate to help one another and edit each other's work. You will be receiving a group grade.
Step 8: Record/edit your infomercial video! Remember you must include one bonus feature suggested at the end. For this project, the more creativity used the better!
Step 9: Write your groups letter of intent (in English!) explaining why your group deserves to be chosen. Remember to follow the guidelines given previously at the beginning of the directions.
Step 10: Gather your group's work and put together your portfolio.
Step 11: Congratulations! You have finished the project! Relax and prepare for the presentation!
BONUS FEATURE: Your group may choose to elaborate on one news article by showing real footage from an original broadcast or recreating the scene with other group members and/or friends.
BONUS FEATURE: Since you will be discussing outcomes and accomplishments, you may want to add footage from real games, controversial calls/plays, or the incident that caused a serious injury.
BONUS FEATURE: Since you will be trying to get older people to attend sporting events add what food will be available or stylish attire a person could purchase.

Conclusion

!Felicidades! Your group submitted the infomercial and could be chosen to encourage non-sports minded people to attend sporting events. How does it feel to know that you and your fellow group members will the be deciding factor in adults attending more sporting events?
Credits
The project demonstrates almost all of the cognitive levels of Bloom´s Taxonomy. For example, in order to research and retain information about their sport, the students must use the skills of knowledge and comprehension. Also, since the students need to create a video that resembles a real infomercial, they must use the skill of application and synthesis so that they can mimic an infomercial and create a script. The skill of evaluation is additionally used, as students must write an essay defending why their group deserves to be chosen to convince middle aged adults to attend a sporting event.
