Introduction
You are to create a Newspaper either online and PRINT it out or from regular sheets of paper or printer paper from various articles:
Being aware of current events is an important part of understanding the world around us, and sometimes it's fun to find those stories. When you know what's going on in the news, you become a more informed citizen of the world. You can begin to form opinions on important issues and make connections among local, national, and world events.
Today you will be exploring some news websites in order to create the front page of a newspaper. You are expected to report on 1 current event from each category (local, national, world news, and an opinion piece). In each article you will summarize and give an unbiased analysis of 3 of the articles and and give your opinion on one news story of your choice that is different from the other news articles you picked.
Task
1. LOCAL news reporter: Reports on stories in and around your city or state
2. NATIONAL news reporter: Reports on stories throughout the United States
3. WORLD news reporter: Reports on stories in countries outside of the United States.
4. OPINION PIECE or "OP-ED"
As you visit your chosen websites, you will take notes and summarize the news stories you are going to write about in your newspaper. Being a reporter, you will write THREE unbiased piece (article summaries) and ONE opinion piece. When you write an OPINION piece, you will have to be able to explain why you agree or disagree with what you read.
Process

Step 1: Decide whether to make a Newspaper by hand or online!
Step 2: Visit websites (Listed Below) to browse current events. Pick 4 articles for your newspaper (1 Local/State, 1 National, 1 World, 1 Opinion)
Step 3: On your own paper or in Word, write down a summary of EACH article--WITH a picture! This may be harder for people that don't draw well and are doing this on paper. Write Legibly or ZERO points. Use any online Newspaper Template to create the front page of a newspaper which will include your three article summaries and opinion writing. You can search "Online Newspaper Template" if you are unfamiliar with this. You can also use these websites to create your newspaper:

Create online or (staple together) a newspaper that has a unique title that you come up with, and put your articles and pictures in the newspaper; Basically you are creating your OWN newspaper. I'd like for this to be printed out if we can.
