Linear Equations in Two Variables

Introduction

Good day, students!!! For you to learn more about our lesson in Systems of Linear Equations in two Variables,we have here another task for you to do. Have fun in doing this activity!!!

Task

Your challenge will be the following:

1. Identify whether the given system is consistent-independent, consistent-dependent or inconsistent.Explain your answer

2. Using geogebra, graph the systems of linear equations in two variables

3. Given the systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables, solve for the value of x and y using Substitution method for number 1 and Elimination method for number 2.

4. Make your own systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (3 items) then solve it using any of the following methods (Substitution, Elimination and Graphing method)

Process

Task 1:

Identify whether the given system is consistent-independent, consistent-dependent or inconsistent. Explain your answer

1

  • x+3y=10
  • 2x-3y=18

2.

  • 1/2x-4y=12
  • y=7x+5

3.

  • 8y=4x-2
  • y-6y+2x-2=8

Task 2

Use the  geogebra to  graph the systems of linear equations in two variables in task 1.

Task 3

Given the systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables, solve for the value of x and y using Substitution method for number 1 and Elimination method for number 2. Interpret your answer

1

  • 2x+6y=28
  • x-4y=12

2

  • y=7x-2
  • x=8y+24

Task 4

Make your own systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables involving real life situations (3 items) then solve it using any of the following methods (Substitution, Elimination and Graphing method).Interpret your answer

Note: Send your outputs into my email account: napuli_maryann@yahoo.com

Evaluation

Each item in task 1 as well as in task 2 is worth 5 points.

In task 3, each item is worth 10 points and in task 4, each item is worth 15 points. Total items for this activity is 95.

Conclusion

Linear Equations in Two Variables is very much useful in our day to day living. I hope you appreciate its importance.
