Let's say you went out for track and you weren't in the best shape. Well I wouldn't worry about it because you don't need to be in great shape when it comes to track. You can still run, but maybe you will get tired more easily then the others. That's okay, because there is always shot put and discs which you don't need to be in shape for, you only need good form. In order to become a better player you need to listen to the coaches AND take their advice as well. When you focus on what your coach says and you work on improving that problem, you will become a better player. Say you are the best runner on the team, or best at shot put, or even discs, and your friends get jealous of you because you are improving and they are staying the at the same position they were at the beginning of practice. Honestly, your teammates should be happy for you and even support you like you should be for them. Now you are racing, you are trying your hardest but someone catches up and beats you across the finish line. Don't take it as a bad thing, instead think of it like a lesson. It's okay to not come in first all the time, because you don't need to spotlight every single second of a race. Now, you are able to improve.
