Process
The Health fad I have found is the injection called the HCG diet (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin). A person called Summer died because of this drug in January at 5:45. Summer was on this drug for 18 days because she was complaining about how to get rid of the 20 pounds of baby weight, she had been told to restrict to only 500 calories a day. she lasted for 2 and a half weeks until her heart gave up. The symptoms of the HCG is hunger, Nausia and vomiting. There are many more symptoms for the HCG diet.
Evaluation
Most people who go out on a scorching day wear sunscreen to protect their skin, but some people want to get tanned so they avoid sunscreen and go out with no protection. In the Dr Phil film we had to watch, 2 ladies were on the show, they had an interest in tanning and were two of the many people who go out doors without sunscreen. Dr Phil explained that people who go out in the sun need to have SPS 15 or greater sunscreen and must apply after every 4 hours. The ladies who were on the show were called Ashley and Erin, two girls who are desperate to do whatever to get tanned. They mentioned something about a ‘tanning bed’ and how they will never stop trying to get tanned. This fad that they kept doing to themselves was dangerous, it caused some skin cancers for people who did it a while back and damages the immune system. Erin, a little time back, had a whole in her cheek from the health fad and then got the same thing on her nose, she had to get an operation to fix both, and the doctors said it wasn’t an easy operation. The holes both healed but that goes to show that the ‘tanning bed’ is not safe. After Dr Phil talked to Ashley and Erin about this dangerous health fad, they both went into a booth which takes a photo of the damage done from the Suns uv rays on their faces. The booth showed that on both of Erin and Ashley’s faces the sun had badly damaged their faces. Ashley said that she tans 5-6 Days a week and is not going to stop any time soon. The tanning bed is definitely a dangerous health fad that needs to stop.
Credits
In this HPE topic i have learnt what health fads are, how they can effect you as a human in both positive and negative ways and how many people try various health fads. In the evaluation section, Dr Phil talked about 2 lady’s who pay a lot of money to go on a tanning bed to get tanned (obviously), but of coarse there is always negative effects of the fad as explained in the evaluation section. I have also learnt that celebrities try health fads along with everyday people, I discussed this in my word document for the conclusion. I also learnt various types of ways to promote the fad such as advertisement on tv, billboards, radio, newspapers and many more, i talked about this in the task section. Companies from around the world are successful for their fads, but how? well, they use different ways as i just then explained before, on billboards, social media, stuff like that, I reckon that's how they succeed. Instead of promoting your health fad and people trying it, i believe the sellers or companies of the health fads should get a health expert and let them try it and let them critique your fad to prove its safe for human consumption.
