Easter celebrations in the UK

Introduction

In the UK Easter is one of the major Christian festivals of the year. It is full of customs, folklore and traditional food. Would you like to know what special Easter food and Easter egg customs are?

With this WebQuest you will find out how Easter is celebrated.

Task

You will work in the groups of three to do some research. You will have 6 weeks to complete the task. In groups you will have to write about:

  • Group 1 -  Easter  in general,  Pancake Day, Ash Wednesday and Lent
  • Group 2 - Mothering Sunday and Holy Week : Palm Sunday , Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday
  • Group 3 - Easter Day and Easter Monday
  • Group 4 - Easter eggs ( customs)  and food,
  • Group 5 - unusual events on Easter Monday

Get ready to present your information in the form of presentation, so that others can have a look at it ( films are also acceptable ). The task must be presented in English.

Process

1. Each member of your group chooses one or two facts to discuss.

2. After you have completed the information, check it for spelling and grammar mistakes.

3. Present your information to the rest of the group.

4. Be creative, find an interesting idea to show your presentation.
