Introduction
In this unit, you will be exploring the concept of heroism. For your novel study, you will be reading: I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai. Throughout this novel, you will encounter customs, traditions, values, and vocabulary from a different culture. To help you better understand the text, you will conduct research on various words and phrases--some you may already know and others you may not even know how to pronounce.
Task
You will research the assigned word(s) for 3 facts that you find interesting and 3 facts that you feel are important (cannot be the same):
- Middle East
- Islam
- Muslim
- The Quran
- Taliban
- Pashtun
- Terrorism
- Malala Yousafzai
- Eid / Ramadan
- Allah
- SWAT valley
You will then plan a slide to add to a slideshow. Once you are finished planning your slide show, you will be placed in a group to create a 6 slide presentation on your group's topics (no repeat information). The 6th side will be a bibliography page (additional resources on process tab).
