To Kill A Mockingbird

Introduction

You are about to read To Kill A Mockingbird. The story takes place in Maycomb Alabama. The main character Atticus Finch is asked to defend a black man charged with the rape of a white women. Through the eyes of his children Scout and Jim Finch, Harper Lee explores the irrationality of adult attitudes towards race and class in the deep south of the 1930's. To best understand this novel you must understand the author first.
