This webquest was created to help you design a Christmas menu with recipes from around the world.
Task
TASK 1 : CREATING A CHRISTMAS MENU
Your task for this webquest is to design a Christmas menu with recipes from around the world. You should choose different courses to create a complete menu.
Process
STEP 1: DESIGNING A MENU
- Firstly you need to know what a menu is;
- Secondly you have to decide what kind of courses you want to include in your menu (starters, first course+second course or main course, side dish, dessert);
- Thirdly you have to consider alternatives for allergies, ethic choices or religious restrictions
- Finally you have to decide what colour and layout you need to create and print your menu.
STEP 2: PLANNING YOUR MENU
In groups of three, you will work together to design the Christmas menu. Each group will choose one of the following points and fill out the worksheets explaining how customers could choose the courses of your menu.
Group 1: starters
Group 2: first courses
Group 3: second courses/main courses
Group 4: side dishes
Group 5: desserts
Remember to consider allergies (lactose, coeliac disease ..), ethic choices (vegetarian, vegan... ) and religious restrictions.
STEP 3: PRINTING YOUR MENU
Once each group has completed its assigned part using the links provided, the students work together to create a layout for the menu, including all the points requested, and then … PRINT YOUR MENU!

TASK 2: USING YOUR MENU
Work in pairs and do a role play, pretending to be a waiter and a group of customers in a restaurant for a Christmas dinner.
Using the menu you have made, consider to suggest courses according to different tastes and eventual allergies, religious restrictions or ethic choices.
After having used your menu, write down in the worksheet if you have found it useful and complete or if there are any points which need to be improved in order to make it a better work tool .

Evaluation
STEP 4 : EVALUATION
Using the knowledge that you have gained during this activity, write down a conclusion explaining:
your choices related to the content (for example the reason why you have chosen some specific courses );
the main problems you had to cope with, in order to make your menu suitable for all tastes and needs.
