What's the Solution?

Introduction

This week we have spent a significant amount of time learning about air pollution from start to finish. Now that we know what air pollution is, what is consists of, and the effects that it brings... what can we do to fix this? You have been challenged to come up with a solution to help save our planet! Let's get started!

Task

What's My Task?

Your task for this assignment is to brainstorm with your group a solution to help with the effects of air pollution. You can choose to either help the environmental, OR the health effects. Once you create your solution, I would like you to create a Powerpoint addressing the following in your solution:

  • Is your solution for health effects, or environmental?
  • Why did you pick health/environmental?
  • What was your thought process for this solution?
  • What is the plan for this solution?
  • How long do you expect this solution to show results?

Process

Each member in your group is responsible for contributing! Your first idea does not have to be your only idea, as long as you work together and agree on the final decision. Please consider the following when creating your solution:

  • Location (Where do we live, and how might that affect your plan)
  • Time (How long do you think this solution will take to yield results)
  • Long term or Short Term (Is this solution going to provide long lasting effects, or help in the moment?)

Be confident and sure in your plan, and put actual thought into it! These solutions could actually help our environment in the long run. I will be asking questions after the presentation so be prepared to discuss and explain your solutions. Each individual in the group will receive the same grade, so make sure to contribute.

Evaluation

There are five areas that I will be looking at when grading these evaluations. Each category is out of 10 points, so the total assignment is worth fifty points. I will be looking at the following criteria:

  • Overall Solution - Does the solution seem well thought out and carefully planned?
  • Teamwork - Is each member in the group knowledgeable about the solution? Did everyone contribute?
  • Details - Did each group mention all points that was asked of them in their presentation?
  • Questions - Was the group able to answer Ms. Slater's questions thoughtfully?
  • Presentation - Overall was the presentation neat, organized, and smoothly executed?

Conclusion

The point of this assignment is to make you all aware of real life issues in our environment, and encourage you all to offer solutions to help. Just think.. if you can help minimize air pollution, you all can do anything!
