Starting Out Strong

As a first year you will be lost. In this webquest, I hope to push you in the right direction of resources that will prove invaluable to you in this endeavor. 

Task 1: You will look to see who your adviser is. Who is your adviser?

This person will be invaluable for making sure you stay on task.

Task 2: You will learn how to gain access to the library Database. How do you get to database? Also, provide screen shot of random topic searched.

This will be your go to for any research project you WILL have.

Task 3: You will learn how to book a private study room. How do you book room?

these will be great for getting homework done in groups.

How to find assigned adviser:

      Step 1: Go to mypellissippi (https://pscas.pstcc.edu:8447/cas-web/login?            service=https%3A%2F%2Fmypellissippi.pstcc.edu%2Fc%2Fportal%2Flogin)

      Step 2: Log in username is your name I.E. Fisrt timer = Ftimer password: P200???????# (unless changed will be p number + #) 

      Step 3: Look to right of alert box (will be under name and contact info). If none is assigned you will want to request one from the advisers at the Goins admin building at Harden Valley.

How to get into Pellissippi library data base:

       Step 1: Go to https://www.pstcc.edu/library/

       Step 2: Click databases above the one search bar.

       step 3: Select subject and type in keywords for the object your wanting info on. (Provide screen shot)

How to book private study room:

       Step 1: Go to https://www.pstcc.edu/library/.

       Step 2: Click the Study Rooms icon on the right.

       Step 3: Select Your location (on the right under book study room).

       Step 4: Make sure your on right day (use arrows on far right to change date)

       Step 5: Click times. yellow is yours, red is taken, green is available.

       Step 6: Click submit times (center bottom).

        Step 7: Type in credentials (If for same day you may need to log into email http://www.pstcc.edu/itsc/webmail.php and confirm. Please forward confirmation)

You should be able to identify your adviser (unavailable is acceptable if none assigned). 

You should be able to search the database for specific subject. (take screen shot of random topic you looked for)

You should be able to book a private study room. (forward email confirmation)

3 Correct answers = 100

2 Correct answers = 80

1 Correct answer =70

No correct answers = 0 

Now you have a few of the tools needed to succeed in college. Your adviser is a great source for finding other available resources.
