How to find out what benefits you have as a PSTCC student?

Introduction

By the end of the quest, you will be able to identify some of the benefits and assistance programs that are available to you.

Task

Fellow students will play out three scenarios that will require exploring the PSTCC website. 

Process

Scenario 1:

You are a new student at PSTCC.  You have attended student orientation and spoke to other students about student life.  You want to know if there are local discounts for students and must explore the PSTCC website to obtain this information.  

Step 1:  Go to PSTCC website at www.pstcc.edu

Step 2: Under "Student Life" find discounts available for local businesses and list three.

Scenario 2:

You recently lost a close family member and need to find the contact information for grief counseling.  You will need to explore the PSTCC website to obtain this information.

Step 1: Go to A-Z index, select "Student Affairs", then select "Counseling".

Step 2: List the contact information for counseling services.

Step 3: Name three other reasons that a student would need counseling services.

Scenario 3:

A fellow student tells you that his family is struggling financially and is having a hard time affording groceries.  You need to provide him with information about the food pantry that you will find on the PSTCC website. 

Step 1: Go back to A-Z index and select "Pellissippi Pantry".

Step 2: Describe how a student can apply for food assistance. 

Evaluation

Four correct answers= 100% :)

Three correct answers= 75% :/

Two correct answers= 50% :(

One correct answer= 25% }:(

Zero=Zero (and disappointment)

Conclusion

Students will have an understanding of the PSTCC website navigation and will be able to find assistance programs or benefits when needed.
