In your exploration of Pythagoras & the Pythagorean Theorem, you have several assignments to complete:

1. Important facts about Pythagoras.

     As a group, you will research important and interesting facts about Pythagoras. You will construct a

     visual aid of some sort (Prezi, PowerPoint, poster, etc.) to present your facts to the class.

     Below are some sample questions to guide your research:

• Where was Pythagoras born?
• What time period was Pythagoras alive?
• Where did he get his education?
• What was his contribution to music?
• What are some beliefs that Pythagoras held?
• What was Pythagoras' religion like?
• What contributions did he make to the math and science worlds?
• What is the most interesting fact you found on Pythagoras?

2. Provide a proof of the Pythagorean Theorem.

     As a group, you will research the different methods to prove the Pythagorean Theorem. Select the

     proof that makes the most sense to your group and that is the most intriguing to your group. Be

     prepared to demonstrate and to explain the proof to the class during your presentation.

3. Apply the Pythagorean Theorem.

     You will individually research how the Pythagorean Theorem is used to solve problems. You will then

      individually complete the handout by applying the Pythagorean Theorem.
