Six Basic Types of Chemical Reactions

Introduction

As we have been learning chemical reactions lead to chemical changes. Chemical reactions can be likened to the formation and breaking of chemical bonds due to electron shifts. A chemical system does not lose or gain energy due to these reactions, rather the energy is simply modified. For the purposes of this assignment, we will explore chemical reactions in their six most basic types: combustion, decomposition, neutralization (acid-base), single displacement, double displacement, and synthesis.

Task

After this assignment, it is expected that you will have a good understanding of the six basic chemical reaction types. Following the conclusion of this web quest, you will be asked to work in groups where each group will be assigned one of the six types and present on the project. In total the project will be worth 100 points, half of those points are here. Please do your best along the way.
