“Ok, boys and girls, now you’ll want to click on the “Task” button and find out what you’ll be learning about the ocean!”
Task
Lets dive into the ocean and start exploring the world of oceanography.
You will be provided some questions revolving around the topic of oceanography.
Your teacher will separate you into 4 groups of 5. If there are more or less students to make up 4 groups of 5 then the teacher can decide as to how to evenly distribute the teams in order to keep things fair. There will be one team leader per group, chosen by the teacher to write down the team’s answers on a piece of paper. In the process section, you will be provided 3 questions pertaining to oceanography and as a team you must work together to answer them to the best of your knowledge. Everyone in the team must participate and discuss their thoughts with each other. Once the team comes to an agreement on the answers they would like to use then it’s the team leaders responsibility to write down the information to turn into the teacher at the end of the exercise. Your teacher will set a timer, as you will only have 15 minutes for the exercise. Once the 15 minutes are up, the group leaders will provide the teacher with their team answers. The group that provides the most accurate answers will be named sea explorers of the day.
Process
Kids, I know you have some questions that might help you process what oceanography is. So here are some questions that might answer what you need to know. Lets dive on into these questions.
Now you might be thinking to yourself, what will I learn from oceanography?
Somethings that you can learn from oceanography is about the animals living in it, the water, and what is above it.
Do they just study sea animals?
The answer to that question is no. Oceanographers study animals and plants in the ocean. They like to see how organisms are being developed and how they interact with the environment that they live in.
When I go to the beach, what is the floor that I am walking on?
When you go to the beach, you are walking on the ocean floor. Oceanographers also study the ocean floor so that they can see all different things like plate tectonics, crustal formation, ocean circulations and climates and many more things.
