Introduction

Complete the following WebQuest in order to learn about the festival of San Fermin that happens in Pamplona, Navarra, Spain every year.

Task

The end goal of this Web Quest is to create a poster for the festival of San Fermin that could be used as the main promotional material. This poster must demonstrate your understanding of the festival and its history.

Research is an individual task. Creating a poster will also be your responsibility.

Process

Research

Your goal is to learn as much as you can about la fiesta de San Fermin as you can. To do a thorough research job, you need to find accurate information about the following: 

1. Where- Where does the festival take place every year? Tell me all about Pamplona, Navarra, Spain. You could include a bit about Pamplona's history, iconic sites, or desirability.

2. Why- Why does this festival exist? What are the origins of the festival? Tell me how this festival began.

3. When- What time of year does the festival occur? How long does it last? When does El Encierro occur? El Encierro is one event during the festival.

4. Who- Who is San Fermin? What is his history?

5. What- What happens at the festival, besides the running? Who are the other famous figures associated with San Fermin? Are there things for families to do? Children?

6. How- How do you take part in the in the festivities? What are the rules and guidelines?

 

All of your answers will go on pg. 41 in your Interactive Notebook.

30 points total. 10 points for each category.

____ Research: All material has been researched thoroughly and all questions are answered? Student allowed the teacher to check his/her answers.

____ Productivity: Student remained on task and working the entire class period? Teacher did not have to prompt student to focus on the task.

____ Creativity: Student was creative and put forth effort in the creation of his/her poster? Poster demonstrates the student's understanding of the festival and its history.

Conclusion

Once you have completed all of the tasks in the PROCESS tab, it's time to create your own promotional poster for las fiestas de San Fermin! 

Be creative. 

Use lots of color and detail. 

Make something you are proud of. 

Represent this ancient tradition well and with respect.
