LAFS.2.L.1.2

Introduction

The teacher will have her students break into small groups that they chose by the color of their eyes. The different group will all write about the color of their eyes. Here they will learn proper capitalization, punctuation, and spelling in writing.

Task

The students will write paragraphs about the color of their eyes and why they like them. After they are finished, they will each present to the class what they wrote about.

Process

The students will separate in to small groups according to their eye color. After they separate, they will work together to brain storm ideas on why they love their eye color. They will then, individually, write a paragraph on why they like their eye color. As they work individually, the teacher will walk around the classroom for guidance and to answer any questions. When the entire class is finished, they will then present to everyone what they wrote.

They will need paper, pencils, and crayons.

Evaluation

While the students are writing, give them encouragement and let them know when they are writing correctly. After they are finished presenting, the teacher will collect all the paragraphs and read through them and grade and correct each one.

Conclusion

When the teacher finishes grading the paragraphs, they will pass them back to the students. As a whole group, the teacher will answer any questions the students have and reflect on what mistakes to avoid next paragraph.
