Introduction
Introduction
You will be completing this webquest to find information to convince others to come to your hotel in your colony! You are a hotel owner and you want more business. There are tons of people coming over from England in search for a place to stay.
What's your mission???
Your mission is to convince new settlers to stay in your colony. You will do this by completing graphic organizers, choosing which colony you want your hotel in and making a brochure, pamphlet, newspaper article or powerpoint to convince people to come to your colony! These new settlers want to know as much information as possible because this is a life changing event!
How long do you have???

This webquest is to take you 3 days (one day per colony). On the 4th and 5th day you will be preparing your final product. On days 6 and 7 you will be presenting your VERY persuasive speech to our class. They will want to see your final product, so make it pretty. After all presenters have gone, students will vote on where they want to live!
Task
Task
The task for the week is to create a brochure, pamphlet, or newspaper article about your colony. You will also need to identify and discover lots of facts about the thirteen original colonies. This will enable you to explain why your colony would be the best choice for when the new settlers are deciding where to move to from England. These travelers have specific reasons for moving to America and you need to show them why the colony that you have a hotel in would best meet these reasons. At the end of the week, your product should include the following:
- Six completed graphic organizers about the Southern, Middle, and New England colonies. (see process page)

- Brochure, pamphlet, newspaper article or powerpoint

- Be ready to convince other people of why they should come to your hotel. This will include showing your final product and giving them all the details about your colony (weather, location, industry, relgion, etc).

Teacher Page
Teacher Introduction
This webquest will help teachers evaluate their students' knowledge about the original 13 colonies. The goal of this webquest is to have all students gain an understanding of life in the colonies. They will choose which colony to locate their hotel and convince other colonists to stay there. Students will research the colonies and pick one to create a brochure, pamphlet, newspaper article or powerpoint that will try to persuade settlers from England to move to their colony. The students will also give a pursuasive speech to practice their public speaking.
I created this webquest to be a suitor for all types of learners. That is why I incorporate videos for the auditory learners and websites for the visual learner. I also used interactive websites for kinesthetic learners. I understand that every child learns differently. So I made this webquest for every type of learner.
