Food Chains

Introduction

Food Chain is a linear sequence of organisms through which nutrients and energy pass as one organism eats another.

Task

Create a food chain with at least 6 organisms. Be sure to label each organism (consumer, producer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, decomposer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, etc.)

Process

***Food chains will vary. They should follow this general guideline:

Producer→consumer(herbivore?primary consumer)→secondary consumer(carnivore/omnivore)→decomposer

Evaluation

Organisms should arranged and labeled.

Conclusion

Food chain shows how each living thing gets food, and how nutrients and energy are passed from creature to creature. Food chains begin with plant life and ends with animal life. Some animals eat plants, some animals eat other animals. A simple food chain could start with grass which is eaten by herbivores.
