When you write about a poem, it is helpful to have the right vocabulary to hand. You must look for implied meanings and the alternative interpretations of the meaning of the poem.

Expressions to explain the meaning of the poem

The reference to...could indicate that...

This indicates that...
This can be interpreted in more than one way...

You should also consider the techniques used by the poet:

WORD Effective vocabulary (adjectives, verbs, adverbs, etc.), use of contrast, exaggeration, use of archaic expressions, personification, metaphors, etc...
SENTENCE Repetition, lists, short or incomplete sentences, commands, questions, etc...

TEXT

(form and structure)

Viewpoint (first, second or third person), stanzas, rhyme, rhythm and how the poem starts and ends.
Expressions about evaluating the effectiveness of the poet's use of language
