Pretend that you are going to travel back in time in a time machine to visit the Presidents of the United States! You would be pretending that you were actually there watching them making all of their important decisions while they are in office. You will have to collect information on your assigned president. The presidents you and you team visit will be brought together to create a timeline.

I hope you all have fun creating this timeline and traveling back in time to see your president!!!

Task

Your assignment is to design an appropriate time line for the groups you are assigned and the presidents you are assigned.

You will learn about your president by visiting websites and databases where you will find lots of information. The information you learn about your president will be used to help you design your timeline.

Hopefully your time line will replicate the information you have gathered and also replicates if you actually went back in time to visit the presidents.

Process

  • See your teacher to find out what group and president you are assigned
  • Print a copy of the President Fact Sheet and record information on it
  • Use the website in the credit section to find information about your president
  • Show your facts to your teacher when you are finished
  • Open a word document and type at least 2-3 paragraphs using the following instructions:

Paragraph 1:  What president was assigned to you, how old were they when they were in office. Any information about their childhood, family and their life before they ran for president.

Paragraph 2: Should tell about what they accomplished while they were in office. Any big changes that were made that affected the country. Any dramatic changes that the president made that was not affective while he was in office.

Paragraph 3: Your opinion on the president. Did you like him? Did you not like him? Did the people of America like the way he ran the country? Was there anything you found interesting about him that some people may not know?

  • Save your work and print when you are ready to hand it in to the teacher.
  • Create your time lien with your group.
  • Share your project with the class.
  • Hand in time line and Poster/ scrapbook to teacher

The skills that you used for this project increased as you became more comfortable searching the internet for your information. You have learned the importance of the presidents from your research and other students research and also how each president effected the time line.
