Introduction
Much of today's pop culture references Golding's Lord of the Flies. A figure of speech whereby the author refers to a subject matter such as a place, event, or literary work by way of a passing reference is called an allusion. Although Golding uses several allusions in his text, there are many times popular culture has referenced Golding's text to explain the harsh nature of the human condition.
