The Roaring Twenties Timeline

Introduction

Hello, class! For today's lesson you'll be learning more in depth about what went on during the Roaring Twenties and how this era in American history shaped the future for citizens in the years to come. You must gather information and create a timeline (with a partner) of the 10 most significant events that best depict what the Roaring Twenties was about and then present as to why you feel these events are important and what you learned from the assignment as well as answer and discuss any questions the class might have.

Task

Students will be paired up with a partner, and each group needs to come together to decide on which events they believe are the most significant. The students will do this through research. More specifically, students can use resources such as:

-Books

-Google

-Magazines

-Movies/Documentaries etc.

While finding these events be sure you can thoroughly explain to the class why you chose these events and how you believe they shaped the rest of American society in years to come while you share your presentation.

Be sure to use reliable sources! (How authentic is Wikipedia?)

Process

Step 1: Gathering information

  1. Do your research and find 10 events. This step is easy! (But make sure you and your partner agree on the same events and you can both discuss these topics to the class.)

Step 2: How are you going to be making your presentation?

(The way you make your presentation is entirely up to you! As long you it is creative and you follow the criteria, you should be good!) Here are a few examples:

  • Google Powerpoint
  • Poster board
  • Prezi
  • If you want to go beyond these suggestions, please do!

Figure out how you want to share your knowledge with the class and once you do, make it creative!

  1. You can use the websites above as a guideline or choose other ones to help with your research and formatting the timeline to your liking.

Step 3: Presentation

This is the final step, you will arrange your ideas and your research. There are not any formats for the presentation, you can be innovative. Share with the class what you believed to be important during this era and what information you found about these events.
