Introduction
Over the next six weeks, we are going to be studying the First Fleet.
You have recently found out that you have a descendent who was on the First Fleet ship Alexander. You must use the provided resources to research a specific convict from this ship as well as learning about how their specific social group was treated in order to create journal entry from their point of view.
Task
Your task will be to learn about the First Fleet and the convicts affected. In pairs, you will be assigned a First Fleet ship- yours is the Alexander, with focus on the experiences of the male convicts. Using the provided resources, you will complete various graphic organisers to organise your content. Once the research has been completed, in later lessons you will begin to generate a journal article from the point of view of your researched convict. You will have one and half lessons to complete the research component of this task, and two lessons later on to complete the final product.
Process
1. Watch the introductory video 'Behind the News' video again, this time using the table provided to take notes and answer the inquiry focus questions.

3. Use the convict data base provided to complete the Convict Identification Card provided by the teacher. When the information is completed, spend a few minutes drawing a picture of what you think the convict may have looked like.
