An aromatic hydrocarbon is one of the four main types of hydrocarbons. Aromatics are true hydrocarbons, meaning these molecules are made up of nothing but hydrogen and carbon. The name was conceived from the tendency of of such compounds to have a strong fragrance.
Aromatics are compounds which contain a benzene ring, the most basic of which is a ring of 6 carbon atoms that alternate single and double bonds between them with a single hydrogen attached to each.().
