Introduction
Hi,this webquest will allow you to learn about the importance of the heart and how it pumps blood around the body.
Task
task 1 you will watch a video on exercise is good for heart
task2 identify the chambers of the heart .
task3 demonstrate how blood flows around the heart
Process
task1 go to the following site and watch this video http://kidshealth.org/en/kids/csmovie.html
task2 identify the chambers of the heart
The heart has four chambers:
- Right atrium
- Left atrium
- Right ventricle
- Left ventricle
Atria are smaller than ventricles and have thin, less muscular walls. They are the receiving chambers of the blood, which is delivered to the heart by the large veins. Ventricles are the larger, more muscular pumping chambers that push blood out to the circulation. They are connected to large arteries that carry blood to the circulation.
The right atrium and the right ventricle are smaller than the corresponding chambers on the left. They have less muscle in their walls compared to the left side of the heart. The difference in size is related to their functions. Blood from the right side of the heart goes to the pulmonary circulation while blood from the left chambers is pumped to the rest of the body.
task 3 demonstrate how blood flows around the heart
gather the following material
1. a plastic plate
2.two plastic cups
3.red and blue food colouring
4.water and two strays
5. marker and pencil
step1. use the pencil and marker to draw a model of the heart on the plastic plate
step2. mix the red and blue food colouring in a small amount of water separately into the two cups.
step3. use the straws to show the path where the red blood oxygenated blood blood by using the red mixture and the blue mixture to show where the deoxygenated blood flows.

Conclusion
The heart is one of the most important organs in your body! In this lesson, you'll learn about the circulatory system, which is in charge of moving blood through your whole body. When your heart beats, it pumps blood to the lungs in order to collect oxygen. Then blood travels out of the heart through arteries and reaches every single part of your body, even your toes! Blood delivers the oxygen, which your body needs to survive. Then it travels back to the heart through veins, which are the blue blood vessels you can see through your skin. Then it goes back into the heart and lungs to get more oxygen and they cycle begins again. How can you keep your heart healthy? Watch the movie to find out!
