Introduction
Waves shape the coastlines of planet earth through erosion, transportation and deposition. In doing so, it creates distinct coastal features that characterise the thousands of miles of coastlines of the planet.
Task
At the end of today's lesson, you must :
1. Create a 3D- model to show several coastal features along a stretch of coastline: cliff, wave-cut platform, headland, bay, cave, arch, stack, spit, bay-bar, tombolo, beach
2. Present your model in class via a short oral presentation explaining how each of the coastal features are formed.
Process
Use the following websites to gather the information necessary to complete your tasks:

Evaluation
Your models and presentation will be evaluated using the following criteria:
|
Criteria |
Excellent (10 marks) |
Good (5 mark) |
Poor (0 marks) |
|
|
Model- required elements - 3D - Coastal Features: Cliff and Wavecut platform Bay and Headland Cave, Arc, and Stack Beach Spit, Tombolo and Bay bar
|
All required elements are included in the model. |
One to two required elements are missing from the model. |
Three or more required elements are missing from the model OR Model is not a 3D representation |
|
|
Accuracy of information - Shape of landforms - Labels -Formation |
Models give an accurate representation of the coastline and coastal features. All features are accurately shaped. Labels are appropriate and accurately placed. Formation of each features is accurately explained with emphasis on wave action and processes.
|
Models give somewhat accurate representation of the coastline and coastal features. One or two features are inaccurately shaped. One or two labels are missing or inacurately placed. Formation is each feature is accurately explained, but there is little emphasis on wave action and processes.
|
Models give an inaccurate representation of the coastline and coastal features. Three or more features are inaccurately shaped. Three or more labels are missing or inaccurately placed. There are several inaccuracies in the explanation of the formation of more than one feature. OR There is NO emphasis on wave action and process.

|
|
Presentation- Creativity, originality and neatness Oral presentation |
Models are visually appealing and show a high level of creativity and originality in its design, layout, use of materials and neatness. Oral presentation- Speech is clear and information accurately communicated.

|
Participation and Co-operation |
All members of the group participated in creation of the model. No complaints about group members were brought to the teacher’s attention |
One or two members did not fully participate in WebQuest or creation of the model. Few complaints about group members were brought to the teacher’s attention |
More than two members did not fully participate in the WebQuest or creation of the model. Numerous complaints about group members were brought to the teacher’s attention. |
