Introduction
Narrative Writing
A narrative is the story (fiction or non-fiction) told and the order in which it is told. Sometimes, there is a narrator, a character or series of characters, who tell the story. Sometimes, as with most non-fiction, the author himself/herself in the narrator.
Why Write Narrative?
Narrative writing is very important in your day-to-day life. For the rest of your life,you will write texts, e-mails, cover letters, blogs, etc. about your beliefs, your ambitions, information you know, and feelings you have.
Narrative writing in fiction and non-fiction (and even poetry) tells others the stories of our personal experiences and allows us to gain empathy and sympathy about the world around us.
Elements of Narrative Writing
There are seven elements of Narrative Writing. These elements are:

The Man and The boy by Sonya Allen
Plot- What happens in the story from start to finish.
Summary
Billy is a twenty year old man who lives on Lancers Street in Morton Town while Peter is an eight year old boy who lives two houses from Billy. Billy never knew Peter and met him one rainy day on the street when he was walking home from school. Billy who was driving offered Peter a drive. On reaching Peter's home Peter noticed that his family was not home so Billy invited Peter to stay at his home until his family comes home. They became friends really quickly as they played games, talk, eat snacks and watched television. After a time of many activities Peter went home and told Billy he promised to come back, which he did. Their friendship lasted a lifetime as to Billy Peter was a brother and reminded him of himself. While for Peter Billy was a father and best friend.
Character- The character/s action that forms the bases of the plot.
The Man- Billy The Boy- Peter
Setting-When and where the story occur (time and place)
Place-Billy's house
Time- After school, 3:00 pm
Point of view- Method of narration.
1. Third person narration
Atmosphere- mood prevading in the story.

Literary Devices- Style of writing use to make writing interesting.

Theme-The main concept around which the story is focused.
