Task
Plate tectonics! A webquest made for any amazing 4th graders wanting to further their knowledge on plate tectonics.

In this webquest, you'll be learning the following concepts:
Understanding plate tectonics
Identifying different kinds of plate tectonics
Furthering your knowledge about plate tectonics, and how they have shaped the world we live in today!
Ready for some fun?

Seperate yourself into groups of 4
Groups are ready?
Pick a name
Assign a team leader.
Now each group is going to answer 4 questions that will test your knowlege on plate tectonics.
Group 1 take the 1st set of 4 question, Group 2 take the 2nd set of 4 questions.
__________________________________________________________________________________
You will have 20 minutes to answer the questions, (use the links provided and your knowledge of plate tectonics to answer the questions) the team leader will write the answers in a sheet of paper.
Once everyone agrees with all 4 of the answers it is time to turn them in!

___________________________________________________________________________
Goals:
I hope that through this webquest you’ll have a better understanding of plate tectonics and how the world is affected by them.
Good luck! Remember this is a game be fair, courteous, but most importantly have FUN!
Process
Hello Fellow Rock Lovers!!
You will be answering 4 questions each! You will answer most of the questions with the map below. Whoever answers the most right will WIN!! Good luck!
Group 1, answer the first four questions.

1. How many major tectonic plates do you see in the map?
2. By looking at the map, what is the largest plate out of the ones labeled in the picture?
3. What is the smallest plate?
4. Tectonic Plates- plate-like sections of ___ crust.
A. Pizza
B. Earth
C. Wood
D. Dough
Group 2, answer the next four questions.
5. What plate is most of the United States on?
6. By the name, which plate is beneath the ocean?

7. Looking at the picture above, plates moving together, which boundary is this?
A. Divergent
B. Convergent
8. The picture above, plates moving apart, which boundary is this?
A. Divergent
B. Convergent
Fun Fact: The force behind plate tectonics is CONVECTION in the mantle. Hot material near the Earth’s core rises, and colder mantle rock sinks!!
