The Civil War was fought between 1861 and 1865. Eleven states secede from the Union, forming the Confederate States of America (CSA). One of the defining moments of US History, over 600,000 Americans died in what is still the deadliest war the United States has ever been in.
This war was caused by many underlying social, economic, and political factors. What were some of the factors that helped push our country closer and closer to civil war? Why were these factors such an important cause of the Civil War?
