Byrd's Multiplication Quest

Introduction

This is your mission, if you choose to accept it.

You are to navigate through this web quest to help strengthen your multiplication skills. Sometimes you will be playing games, other times you will be doing worksheets. By the time you are done with this web quest you should be ready to take a timed multiplication test, and complete it with 100% accuracy.

Be sure to complete every task correctly before moving to the next one.

Task

You will be working individually on a Chrome Book until you finish the web quest.

You will be focusing on drill and practice of your multiplication times tables.

Keep this in mind:

  • Focus on accuracy (getting the problem right).
  • Watch your time, try to complete the problem quickly.
  • After you have mastered that then and only then, you can focus on increasing the difficulty of the multiplication problems.

Process

Step 1:  Go to http://www.funbrain.com/cgi-bin/mb.cgi?A1=start3&A2=3&ALG=No&Submit=Play+Ball and play the game until you have earned 10 runs.

Step 2:  Go to https://www.ixl.com/math/grade-6/multiply-whole-numbers-word-problems Solve 10 multiplication word problems and record your Smart Score on notebook paper for Mrs. Byrd

Step 3: This is challenging!  Go to http://www.aaastudy.com/dec54ax2.htm Make sure and read the directions and review the steps before pushing "Start".  Once you have done 20 problems and earned an 85% you can continue to the next step.

Step 4: It's time to play for fun!  Go to http://www.funbrain.com/cgi-bin/ttt.cgi?A1=s&A2=7&A3=0 and play Tic-Tac-Toe until you win!  Play a few games if you would like!

Evaluation

On a sheet of notebook paper pick 4 problems, write the problem and show your work.  This sheet must be turned in to receive credit for completing this WebQuest!

Conclusion

The purpose of this assignment was not to torture you.

It was to help you learn your times tables. Multiplication is going to follow you all the way to high school, so you will be much better off if you learn it now instead of later.
