Plot Elements

Introduction

Introduction

In this Webquest, we are going to learn the different elements of plot. Before we talk about plot specifically, there are a few terms you will need to understand:

Characters: The people, animals, or other things in the story
Plot: The plans and events that make up the story. Remember a story always has a beginning,       middle, and end

Theme: THE MEssage of the story

Setting: Where and when the story takes place

Events: Important things that happen during the story

ProblemSomething that is stopping the character or an issue the characters are facing

Climax: Turning point in the story

Solution: When the character solves or fixes the problem it is usually at the end of the story

Now think about important "W" questions we ask in a story:

The characters explain who. The plot explains what. The setting explains when and where. The theme explains why.

Task

You and your group members will create a powerpoint explaining the elements of plot. These elements are:

  • Exposition
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Falling Action

You will use the information on the "Process" page to learn about Plot Elements.
