Introduction
You just turned 18 and are excited about voting in your first election. Your mission is to research the major political parties in the United States of America and decide what political party you would rather be a member of.
Task
This assignment will be broken down into 3 sections:
Part 1 : History of Political parties
Part 2 : Issues
Part 3 : Where do I fit in?
You will turn in 3 assignments at the end of your assignment. You will answer questions that you will turn in as you complete your research. You will also turn in a argumentative essay try to convince otheres why your party is the best party and a poster displaying the highlights of the political party that you have chosen after your research.
Process
1. Visit the following websites about the history of each party.
Research the Democratic party making sure to answer questions on your answer sheet

Reasearch the Republican party

* create a timeline displaying the major points of history through both parties.
-Use the party's official website & other reliable internet sites
-When researching, created a bulleted list of important events in the party's history, major successes, important leaders, etc.
**Use your research to write a cohesive 6-8 sentence informative paragraph that demonstrates excellent knowledge of when/why your party started, where it is today, and the pivotal moments in-between!
2. Download the PDF platforms/issues for each party from the following sites :
Make a list of each parties issues/platform then you are to write a paper 3 pages in length compare/contrast each party.
You are then to post at least 5 postings on our class blog. Respond to at least 2 other classmates posts.
-Use the party's official website to research your party's opinion on 3 controversial/important issues.
**Write an informative paragraph about this issue and your party's opinion on it. Be sure to include a corresponding picture!

After completing the survey you are to take all relevant information and decide which party you will want to join. You are to write a persuasive/argumentative piece to get others to join your party:
* a persuasive poem
* a persuasive essay
* a party flyer/brochure
You are then to create a political ad highlighting your parties essential points. Use your ipad to record and edit. All ads will be presented to the class.
