Task
We will be researching America's National holidays, the holidays we are researching are: President's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, And Constitution Day.
The purpose of this webquest is to discover why these holidays are important to our nation and why they were created as national holidays. Each student will research each holiday, then pick a certain holiday with a partner and research this holiday in detail. Each team will discuss the holiday with the class, all students will complete a chronological timeline of all holidays after the class discussions are complete.
Process
Step 1-
Holiday research:Student's will conduct research through the classroom resources. There will be encyclopedia's, videos, computer programs, books available in the classroom to conduct the research.
Step 2- Each student team will pick a holiday and start their research from one of the following :

Step 4- Student's will create a timeline that places each holiday in chronological order.
Evaluation
Evaluation of student performace:
0-1 student did not complete assignment or turn in assignment
2- poor information and incompleted assignment/timeline incomplete
3- Most information was correct, some key points not covered/ timeline was not in correct order.
4- All information was correct, a few errors
5- All information is correct and all basis covered, timeline completed
Conclusion
At the end of this lesson you will understand the importance of each nation holiday, why we celebrate them, and when the day became a holiday.
