Task

Introduction

A small caterpillar emerges from an egg and begins eating everything in sight.  One apple on Monday, two pears on Tuesday, three plums on Wednesday, and so on, through cherry pie and sausage--until he is really fat and has a stomachache.  Finally, the caterpillar is no longer hungry and no longer small. The big, fat caterpillar builds a cocoon around himself and finally emerges as a beautiful butterfly.

Task

Yesterday we read The Very Hungry Catepillar and talked about the different stages catepillars go through. You will be creating your own Very Hungry Catepillar.

Process

Right now, take some time and listen to The Very Hungry Catepillar, retell the story with your group

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMzhZz0J_OI

With your group, make a list of what you know about catepillars. Once finished, write about what changes a catepillar goes through to become a butterfly.

With your group you will get: glue sticks, construction paper, egg cartons, pipe cleaners, eye, and green paint

You will need to create your own catepillar!

Evaluation

Miss Lawrence's Look Fors:

*Working as a team
*Your group planned how they would   build their catepillar before
*Completed catepillar
*Filled out reading notebook

Conclusion

Now that you are finished, you will need to get your reading notebook. In your notebook, I want you to draw or write three things that the catepillar ate. Also, make a prediction of why the catepillar ate so much.
