Task

Everyone in this class lives in the State of Michigan.

Do you know where this state is located on the map of the United States of America? Where would you live if you had a choice?

Process

Before you begin your assignment:

Make sure that your computer/tablet has enough battery or is plugged in.

Give yourself 20-30 minutes of uninterrupted time to work on this assignment a day.  We will be working on it for the next two weeks.

Come back to this assignment as many times as you need to learn where each state is located.

At the end of this lesson:

You will know where each state is located on a map, know how to search for facts about each state, and be able to give a presentation about a state of your choice.  You will create a presentation to try and persuade someone to move to your favorite state.

Students will include fun facts, industry, flowers, places to visit, and anything else to enhance their presentation.  They will use www.voki.com/site/create to make their presentation.

Conclusion

Fun fact: You carry a map on you at all times, so you can show everyone the state you live in.  Are you scratching your head?  Have you figured it out?   The picture below will give you the answer!

Students learn facts and are able to participate in real-world authentic processes through games, research, video, animation, interactivity, text, and digital images.  They become engaged in their own learning, which is then enabling the student to have a student-centered learning environment.

You will end this lesson by giving a presentation why someone should move to your favorite state.  Enjoy the ride!
