Introduction:

               Welcome to your social studies WebQuest in Economics! This week we will be learning about budgeting! You will be given a series of tasks and questions to aid in your responses to specific questions regarding the use and need to budget. You will be presented with specific resources and materials that are to be used throughtout your WebQuest experience. Through completion of this quest you should be able to answer the question: What is a budget?

Task 1 Day 1: Searching and Writing

Process

Task 1: Check out this site http://money.cnn.com/pf/money-essentials-kids-financial-responsibility/… that helps you understand who can budget. Once you understand who can budget write two sentences, the first describing how you can budget, the second describing how a parent can budget.

Task 2: Make a pie chart that gives some reasons why people budget.

Task 3: Using the computer as your resource, show some ideas on different ways that people can budget. Be creative!

Task 4: Describe a specific scenario in which a budget will work toward its' intented purpose.

Task 5: Using your aquired data, in your own words, explain what a budget is. You will need to add a picture somewhere that aligns with your explaination.

Evaluation

YOUR EVALUATION

Your evaluation will take place following the Task 5 Day 5 process. Once you have completed the final written piece, along with a picture to help describe the content, you will print it out to be presented for the class.

**Hearing feedback about each piece as well as the different learning experiences that your peers have gained will only help to broaden your complete understanding of the budgeting process!

Conclusion

Now that you have found your way through the WebQuest, you should have gained some new and improved insight on what it means to budget! Thinking back to what you have learned over these past 5 days, from your own exploration, as well as what you have learned from some of your peers responses, please take the time to answer the following questions:

1) How can I plan to budget my future money to supply my needs and wants?

2) How am I a part of the process in my family budget?

3) How am I a part of the process in my school budget?
