Introduction

Most of you have an outstanding grasp on many different areas of Mathematics.  How many of you know who is responsible for these concepts in Mathematics?  We have all asked the question, "Who came up with this"?  I know you are thinking whoever thought of Mathematial Concepts must be pretty boring people, but they were actually some of the most interesting people in history!

Task

In this Webquest you are going to choose from a list of Mathematicians.  You will then research their background and Mathematical contributions. Believe me when I tell you that they were NOT the boring people you think they were.

Process

At the end of this Webquest you will be able to provide the following:

  1. What your Mathematician is responsible for in the great world of Math as we know it
  2. Information on your Mathematician's life growing up (important dates, childhood history and any other important information you find on him or her)
  3. An example of a problem that relates to his or her invention
  4. A picture of your Mathematician
  5. An interesting or funny fact about your Mathematician

Below is a list of Mathematicians you may choose from:

  • Albert Einstein
  • Lewis Carol
  • Isaac Newton
  • Rene Descartes
