Introduction
Our understanding of the earth is always changing. There are many ideas of how the Earth is structured.
Task
Congratulations you have been selected to be part of our team that will take the Journey to the Center of the Earth as a Geologist. We have created a drill that will serve as our team base, it is your job as an Earth Surveyor to acknowledge some of these misconceptions then present about a certain layer of the Earth's atmosphere, or crust layers, and inform the rest of the team about their surroundings in each. As a point of interest for the crew mates you should also tell one other theory about what is in the center of the Earth.
Process
Week 1 GROUPS!
Step 1: Get into groups of 3, students may be in other class periods of Ms. Jensen's 7th Grade science.
Step 2: Write down your names and group name then submit your paper to Ms. Jensen. This step is worth 10pts.
Week 2 RESEARCH!
Here are the requirements of the Research.
- List all the layers of the Earths atmosphere
- Pick 3 layers and describe key characteristics about that layer such as: density, gasses found, and one interesting fact
- List the layers of the Earth's Crust
- Pick 2 you find interesting and describe key characteristics such as: density, chemical compounds, and one interesting fact.
Step 1: Start your research. Below are some links that you may find helpful.
- Start out here at this website to help refresh your memory on the Earth's structure click here.
- For the different layers in the atmostphere here are some links you would find useful.
- For the different layers of the Earth these links below may be useful.
- Explain how they will be evaluated
- Summarize what the students have learned by completing the WebQuest
- Cite the standards that this WebQuest will be addressing as well as any other items that have not already been credited
- Contain a teacher page that provides a lesson plan for incorporating this WebQuest into their curriculum
