Process

STEP 1:

How magical are you? Find out by first talking to your classmates and dividing yourselves into groups based on what houses each of you were sorted into in the TASK section.  (If there are not even groups, your teacher can divide you evenly)  Together, come up with ten questions about the book to ask the other groups.

STEP 2:

The groups will now compete in order to determine who will get the Sorcerer's Stone!  Each group will hand in their questions to the teacher who will pose the questions to the class.  Points will be awarded for each correct answer given.  The group who answers the most questions correctly wins!

STEP 3:

Finally, each student will compose short answers (1 to 2 paragraphs) to the following questions, which will be disscussed in class.

     1. Why is it significant that Harry insisted on being placed in Gryffindor House? How is this important to his character developement?

      2.  Is there a clear, indisputable distinction between "good" and "evil" in the book?

       3.  What is the key difference between Harry and Voldemort that Rowling highlights?

Conclusion

Congratulations on completing the Harry Potter WebQuest!  You are ready to start your first year at Hogwarts!

The purpose of this assignment was to practice using different tools on the internet, while exploring the content of a novel in a new way.
