- Using materials from nature, make a model of a Creek or Cherokee home.
- Using materials from nature, recreate a tool used by the Creek or Cherokee Indians.
- Dress in Creek or Indian attire. Present this to the class and explain your costume.
Step 4: Culminating Activity:
Create a presentation of your choice explaining (or showing) the differences between how the Cheek and Cherokee lived long ago to how you live today. The presentation must address ways of making a living (surviving), homes, clothing, weapons, tools, and food.
Evaluation
Students will be assessed using a 3 point rubric.
The following will be evaluated:
1. Completion of the required task(s) in each section.
2. Accuracy of the information presented in the completed tasks.
3. Neatness of the completed tasks.
4. Originality of the completed tasks.
Points for each section are given as follows:
0 points: Not evident (or not attempted)
1 point: Somewhat Evident (or attempted)
2 points: Evident
3 points: Exceptional
A total of 12 points are possible, resulting in a score of 100.
Conclusion
Through these activities, you have learned that:
- Creek and Cherokee people have similarities and differences in the way they lived, survived, work, etc.
- Georgians today have smiliarities and differences to Georgia's first people, the Creek and Cherokee
