Introduction

(Go to caption one)The Cold War began when tensions from WWII were high between the U.S and The USSR. The two superpowers had different ideologys, the US democratic and the USSR communist. The war eventually (go to caption 2)began when communism began spreading in Europe causing the us to get involved.The war was 'cold' because there was never a direct military engagement between the two leaders, the US and the USSR, although shots were exchanged in the air during the Korean War.

Why did the American citizens have a different view on the Vietnam war than the governments?

(Caption 2)This image shows protestors outside the White House protesting the Vietnam war the US has become involved with after aiding south Vietnam.

Task

Task: Write a paper comparing both arguments of the war.

Directions:1. Research 8 documents with arguments of the Soviets and Americans, 2. Prick pros and cons of both arguments in a list, 3. Choose the argument you side with more and create a chart to begin supportping your argument, 4. Write a paper supporting your sides argument, 5. Present your paper to your class and prepare to defend your paper from the other sides argument.

Process

1. Read 14 articles with arguments of both side in the Cold War involving the included topics, causes of the war, effects of the war, space race, arms race, Korean Wa, Vietnam war, end of the war. (2 documents for each topic with both sides arguments).(60 minutes)

2.Make a T-chart detailing the Pros and Cons of both sides arguments.( 30 minutes)

3.Choose the argument you prefer more and make a chart to list the pros of the argument and support your pros with text evidence. (20 minutes)

4.Write your  5 paragraph paper using your chart to complete the body paragraphs.( 60 minutes)

5. Present your paper to your class and defend your paper after reading.(40 minutes)

The Vietnam protest were small at first untill the bombing of north vietnam. Anti Vietnam war marches were made by students for a democracy.

Many speeches were made at universitys and colleges due to the increased protests. The military strategy were spoken to the public.

the US made many policy's to prevent communism abroad. The policy wer crested due to moves by the soviets.

Nearby countries to the USSR were quickly absorbed into the USSR. Stallin. Quickly order the puppet regime for the Soviet part of German.

The US had over 70 interventions btween communism and democracy. The foreign affairs were only to prevent the spread of communism

Gorbachev takes power and introduces two new policies. The soviet union gains some freedom after the new policies.

The Soviet Union dissolved into fifteen diffrent states. The leader Gorbachev was the last leader during the stagnation of the Soviet Union.

The Soviet Union collapsed Christmas Day 1991. The fall of the Soviet Union was partially  to the radical reforms.
