Introduction
The Cold War was a war fought based on ideology; the two ideologies were democracy and Communism. The United States was scared of the spread of Communism which was being advocated by the Soviet Union. The western countries like the U.S. intervened in many countries to stop Communism while the Soviets helped the Communist nations. You will research the Cold War in the following webquest by answering the following questions.
Essential Questions:
1. How did the Soviet Union appear to be spreading Communism after World War 2, and why were the U.S and other countries scared of what the Soviets were doing and how did this cause the war?
2. How did the Soviet Union and United States display their fear to each other with their actions like the build up of weapons and how did these countries get involved in other countries war's to stop or spread Communism?
3. How did events like the Korean War, Afghanistan, and Vietnam war make the Soviets weak and how did Sovieto premiere Gorbachev make the Soviets more capitalist and lead to the end of the war?
This symbol or flag represents Communism which was a main Ideology which the Soviets fought for in the Cold War
President Roosevelt and Stalin were the two key leaders in the Cold War representing the U.S. And the Soviets.
Task
The task you will follow to answer the essential questions is below.
Task: Create a powerpoint comparing and contrasting the Soviet Union and the United States in how they both caused the war, build up of weapons, how they advocated Democracy or Communism, what countries they helped in the Vietnam,Korean,and Afghanistan war, and how they both contributed to the end of the war. The essential questions should be answered.

Process
1. Research 3 articles each for the The Unites States and the Soviet Union on their causes of the war, arms races, their involvement in Vietnam and Korea and how theses events ended the war. 60 minutes
2.Compare their involvements in those events by making a chart of the events in step 1 with both sides United States and the Soviets. 20 minutes
3. Organize your chart into a vendiagram of the similarities and differences of the actions of the U.S and the Soviet Union. 20 minutes
4. Analyze each article for the reliability and who's perspective it is written in and how the perspective effects the article.15 minutes
5. Create a PowerPoint that summarizes the vendiagram and chart, and answers the three essential questions. 60 minutes
