Cold War

The Cold War was from 1947-1991. A few causes of the Cold War were that the Soviet began expanding,  Americans using containment, and the fact that the Soviet was communists and Americans were democrats. The United States and the Soviet Union fought together in World War II but they were enemies in the Cold War. After the Soviet fell apart, Russia took its place, and the United States feared them. The arms race was between the US and the Soviet. The US was upgrading and buying weapons, but the Societ a Union couldn't keep up. The space race started because the Russians sent Sputnik, a small satellite, into space. This alerted the Americans because the Russians could see our land and spy on us. During the Korean War, the US was fighting with South Korea against North Korea. North Korean was and still is communist, while South Korea is democrat. The Vietnam War was the first war that the US lost. The Cold War ended with the Berlin Wall falling. This  How did the causes of the Cold War affect the world? Why did the Space and the Arms race become an important part in the war? How was the United States affected by the War?

1) Research four articles about the Cold War

2) Take notes on each side; communism and democracy 

3) Outline your notes 

4) Begin writing the essay, while answer the questions. This essay should have an introduction, a conclusion, and at least two body paragraphs.

1) Find four articles that could answer the questions (30 minutes)

2) Make an outline for each article you find. (40 minutes)

3) Determine whether you agree with the author's opinion; why or why not. Write this with each outline. (20 minutes)

4) Write an essay that answers the essential question. (60 minutes)
