The cold was was a time of extreme tension between the United States of American and the Soviet Union. The two countries had different ideologue. The Soviet Union was communist and was starting to spread their views and the U.S. didnt want that to happen. This caused the start of the Cold War. Some effects of the Cold War was Germany being slip it two and the creation and destruction of the Berlin wall.
