Introduction
There are literally hundreds of thousands of diets. Some are for losing weight, others for gaining weight, lowering cholesterol, living a long and healthy life. The Mediterranean Diet, for example, reflects the culinary habits of southern European people. Today our society is becoming more health conscious with the food that we eat. West Virginia our state known for the greatout doors now ranks second in the United State for obesity. Research indicates one problem is lack of education on nutrition. Our goal with this project is to educate the right students that can make a difference.
Task
Your task is to research today's most popular diets and choose one to write, discuss, and use for four weeks to reveal results received from using yourself as a test subject.
Research online, popular magazines, diet books to locate the diet that fits your wallet and your life style. The criteria for the assignment is to choose a goal or goals that you want to achieve with your diet option. How much food will you need a day? Your budget for food costs. A menu plan for yourself as a test subject during the four-week experiment. A notebook to record your info on weight and measurements. A nutrition guide and calorie counter to break down each meal you consume by proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. All this information will be placed in a log with rubric to check with. The log will provide your work that you will turn in for your evaluation.

1. On a daily basis, the Program
a. Serves a fruit or vegetable (fresh, frozen, canned or dried without added sugar).
b. Offers water at the table during snack, and has water accessible at all times.
c. Only serves foods made without trans fat.
d. Serves beverages that are not made with caloric sweeteners. Beverages made with caloric sweeteners include but are not limited to sodas, juices, juice drinks/ades, sports drinks or iced teas.
e. Serves no candy or other foods that are primarily sugar based.
f. Through portion size and variety of items offered each day, provides each student with enough calories to avoid both hunger and over eating.

b. Emphasizes healthy beverages including low or nonfat milk; plain or naturally flavored non-carbonated water; and 100% fruit juice
i. Does not offer flavored milk made with added sugars or artificial ingredients.
ii. Fruit juice should be limited to one 8 oz serving per day
iii. No limits on low/nonfat plain milk or water
