Color Wheel Discovery

Introduction

Today we will be discovering and learning about the color wheel! You will learn the color names and groups on the color wheel through an online search activity.  

Task

You will be completing a worksheet that is to be turned in by the end of class. After completing this worksheet, we will begin to create works of art using the groups of colors you will have learned.

Process

See the steps below for directions on how to complete the activity.

 

Tip: If you see the word HUE, it means color. Hue is a synonym to color.

 

Step 1: Open a new Word document. At the top of the page include:

           - your name

           - the date

           - class period

 

Step 2: By visiting website #1 below in the websites section, list the names of all the colors on the color wheel. This will be number 1 on your word document.

 

Step 3: By visiting website #2 below, write down the names of the primary colors.

 

Step 4: By visiting website #2 below, write down:

            - The names of the secondary colors

            - What is a secondary color?

            - How do you make a secondary color?.

 

Step 5: By visiting website #2 below, write down:

            - The names of the tertiary colors

            - What is a tertiary color?

            - How do you make a tertiary color?

 

Step 6: By visiting website #3 below, write down:

            - The definition of complimentary colors

            - An example of 2 complimentary colors

 

Step 7: By visiting website #3 below, write down:

            - The definition of analogous colors

            - An example of 2 analogous colors

 

Step 8: By visiting website #3 below, write down:

            - The definition of triadic colors

            - An example of 3 triadic colors

 

Step 9: By visiting website #4 below, write down:

            - The names of the cool colors

            - What is a cool color?

 

Step 10: By visiting website #4 below, write down:

            - The names of the warm colors

           - What is a warm color?

 

Step 11: Print out your document and turn it in in the front of the room.
