The Korean Wave, or Hanryu, is made up of two root words – han (韓) refers to a quality or state of being Korean while liu or ryu (流) means "flow". Both words can be combined to form the compound word Hanryu (한류), usually romanized as Hallyu, which refers to "the flow and spread of Korea" and is translated into English as the Korean Wave.
The Korean Wave is based on many different aspects of South Korean culture, such as:
- Popular music, also known as "K-pop"
- Dramas, or "K-dramas"
- Language
- Animated comics and films
- Cuisine
K-pop (an abbreviation of Korean pop (Hangul: 케이팝; RR: kei-pap) is a musical genre originating in South Korea that is characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements. Although it comprises all genres of "popular music" within South Korea, the term is more often used in a narrower sense to describe a modern form of South Korean pop music covering a wide range of styles including dance-pop, pop ballad, electropop, rock, metal, hip-hop music and R&B.

This project is to study not only the KPOP syndrome itself but also to be aware of the side effects as well.

The purpose of this Webquest is to make the learners more knowledgeable about KPOP and how that influence culture and economic. Students also will perform a presentation to be involved as a group to work cooperatively and ultimately learn skills to presentate in front of the class.
